2017 GRADUATION CEREMONY OF THE PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY TRAINEES

INNOSON KIARA ACADEMY NNEWI, SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED HER MID – PROGRAM EXAMINATION FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY TRAINEES

Building students’ skills is the key to deepening teaching and learning. Pre – and Post – Program testing gives great insight into whether or not intended learning outcomes are achieved. For some skill areas, knowing exactly the prior knowledge of students is vital to predicting their achievement on program certification or qualification examinations. For other programs, a trainee’s awareness of personal growth in stated learning outcomes provides key information in that program’s continuous improvement.

The training of 200 Niger Delta youths under the Presidential Amnesty Program by Innoson Kiara Academy Nnewi, have so far developed the trainees on principles underpinning the operations related to manufacturing and maintenance of Automobiles (both cars and heavy duty vehicles).

Trainees in the Academy have been working with lecturers as well as factory tutors, on the basics of automobile manufacturing, diagnostic procedures, testing and repairs of automobiles in various departments such as: Auto-Electrical, Auto-Mechanic, Auto-Welding and Auto-Painting. There are however, other general courses offered to the trainees by the Academy, and these include: Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Interpersonal Skills, as well as Entrepreneurship Studies.

Intensive training have enabled the trainees to develop teamwork skills, safe working practices and environmental awareness when solving problems related to planning and managing automotive operations. Theoretical and practical assessments are also used periodically and extensively by Innoson Kiara Academy to assess trainees’ competency in their various units of Automobile training. As part of the IKA’s programmes, mid – program examination was successfully conducted from 26th to 29th July, 2017. The trainees were assessed both in theories and practical, based on what they have been taught in their various departments for the past five months of training.

The training which is meant to last for nine months will be completed in November this year, after which the trainees will be examined by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) in other to qualify them for national certificates, which will make them employable anywhere in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, trainees started their trainings with basics in Automobile manufacturing and maintenance, in their first two months of arrival, and then progressed to observing and learning the activities in the production main line. Program of the Academy stipulated that, trainees who are successful in their mid – program examination will join the main production line for the remaining months of their trainings, thus assisting technicians in the automobile production process.

However, the result of the just concluded mid – program examination (NABTEB standard, theory and practical), showed that 94% of the trainees have gained very good experience so far, as they can now man production line in their various departments, with little or no supervision. It can therefore be concluded that Innoson Kiara Academy Nnewi has all it takes to compete with other indigenous Automobile training Institutes, as well as those around the world.
