On Monday 18th July 2016, Innoson Kiara Academy hosted some staff of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports to progress the partnership opportunities established during the Honourable Minister’s visit earlier this year.
They were impressed with the structure of the academy as well as the equipment used for training in both Enugu (Plastic Production Technology) and Nnewi (Automobile Manufacturing and Maintenance) centres.
We reviewed the possibility of extending this training model to other sector skills areas in various States of Nigeria by making use of the numerous inactive Skills Acquisition Centres all over the country. We visited one of them – the National Youth Acquisition Centre in Mgbakwu, Anambra State to assess the capacity.
The facility was ideal but inactive with various equipment still unpacked after 6 years. The buildings need some maintenance.
We intend to activate this and other centres all over the country, turning them into financially viable production centres that can be self-sustaining while training and empowering our youths.
